Itinerary

Pallay Punchu Rainbow Mountain Adventure

At 4:00 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel or Airbnb in Cusco. Due to restricted access in some historic center streets, a nearby meeting point may be arranged. You will begin a scenic drive of approximately two hours to Cusipata, where you will enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast prepared with local ingredients to energize you for the day.

After breakfast, the journey continues toward Sicuani and then to Langui-Layo, the starting point of the hike to Pallay Punchu. The hike lasts approximately 30 minutes and follows a moderate uphill trail. As you ascend, the landscapes gradually transform, revealing dramatic high-Andean scenery and colorful mountain formations.

Upon reaching the top, you will have free time to rest, take photographs, and admire the spectacular natural beauty of the Andes. The mountain’s striking red, green, yellow, white, and ochre layers create a truly unique visual experience, complemented by panoramic views of Langui-Layo Lake.

After enjoying the summit, you will descend along the same trail and return toward Cusipata, where a traditional lunch will be served to help you recover after the hike.

Finally, you will travel back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 PM, concluding an unforgettable day surrounded by mountains, culture, and extraordinary landscapes.

FAQ

Who is this tour suitable for?

The minimum recommended age is 12 years old. The tour is not suitable for pregnant women, people with heart conditions, wheelchair users, infants or very young children.

How hard is the hike and how should I prepare for the altitude?

The hike to Pallay Punchu lasts approximately 30 minutes and follows a moderate uphill trail. Because of the high altitude, we strongly recommend acclimatizing in Cusco for at least 2–3 days before the tour. A first aid kit and an oxygen bottle are included.

What time is the pickup, and can you pick us up at our hotel or Airbnb?

Pickup is at 4:00 AM from your hotel or Airbnb in Cusco. Because some streets of the historic center have restricted access, a nearby meeting point may be arranged. The tour returns to Cusco at approximately 5:00 PM.
